My practice is focused on the human soul. This idea comes from the earliest records of human civilization in Kemit (Sudan/Egypt) and Mesopotamian civilizations. They believed the body to be a vessel and within it was an eternal idea of a life. This idea is carried forward into our present beliefs. I am producing works that capture my soul, its connection to the body, the Earth and other souls living and dead.
As first generation Liberian-American my work is rooted in relationships between displacement, continuity and self-construction. These relationships have been formed by the erasure of ancestral history due to the Arab-Islamization of West Africa and European Christian colonization.
